It is with much excitement that we embark together on a new year. The Rotary International theme for 2020-21 is "Rotary Opens Opportunities." Rotarians are being asked to create opportunities that strengthen their leadership, help put service ideas into action, and improve the lives of those in need.
This theme is very fitting for my year as president, because Rotary has opened so many opportunities in my life. Moorpark Morning Rotary has given me the opportunity to give back to this community that I love. It has given me the opportunity to make some of my best friendships. It has given me the opportunity to see beyond the bubble I live in and help make an impact in the world. And it has even lead to my new career!
With the impact of COVID-19, we can already see that this year will be anything but typical. I want to help ensure that with all the changes in our lives, Rotary remains a constant thread. Together with my amazing board, we have set a few goals for the club this year:
Increase community service opportunities
Increase awareness of our club in the community
Increase participation with The Rotary Foundation
Improve club communication
Work towards funding Ron Helus scholarship endowment
I think if we do all these things well, we will also increase membership. We will continue to have some meetings via Zoom and others in person, however I will do my best to make sure all in person meetings also have a zoom component so everyone can participate, no matter their comfort level.
Thank you all for your friendship and the faith you put in me to lead this amazing club.
Since we are limited on getting together in large groups, we are going to do something a bit different this month. We have split everyone in the club into small groups. Please schedule a Zoom call, phone call or in-person social distance meetup with the people in your group either together or individually durning the month of July.
All we ask is that you find out one thing you did not know about each person in your group. Please write it down so you don't forget as we will be sharing these during our August meetings! Contact info for members is located in Club Runner if you don't already have it. If you don't know how to access Club Runner, this is a great time to ask for help and learn how! :)

July Community Service
While our thoughts go to the people, families and friends of those who have suffered racial injustice. The majority of our law enforcement officers are focused not on the color of skin, but on upholding the laws and protecting our communities.
This month we would like to thank those local officers who put themselves on the line for our freedom and safety, as Moorpark resident Ron Helus did nearly two years ago.
We are asking that anyone who would like to participate write a letter, have kids draw a picture, buy a card, etc. These items can be dropped off at Insurance Brokers West or brought to our meeting on July 16th. We will be dropping them off at the Moorpark Police Station along with a special treat on behalf of the club.
