The Laurie White Foundation was established to provide scholarships for deserving 2nd-year students at the Exotic Animal Training & Management Program at Moorpark College. LWF also donates to pet and wildlife rescue organizations.
Laurie Rae White is best remembered for her love of animals, especially reptiles. Over the years she had a variety of pets. In 2004 Laurie entered the Exotic Animal Training & Management program (EATM) at Moorpark College, and had the happiest two years of her life, graduating in 2006. She worked with many different animals at EATM and became known as "The Lizard Lady".
To further her education, Laurie went to California State University Northridge and earned her Bachelor's in 2009. She earned her Master's at Claremont Graduate University in 2013, while working as a high school science teacher.
Laurie passed away on July 26, 2013, at 33. She is missed by many. Karen and Gary White have put a fund together in their daughter's name. The purpose of the Laurie White Foundation is to provide at least two scholarships to deserving and qualified second-year students at EATM.
