Dr Kelli Hays became superintendent of the Moorpark Unified School District in July 2014. However she has been an employee of the district for more than 20 years.

She began her work for the district as a Moorpark High School language arts teacher in 1998. She then held various roles as the assistant principal and principal of Mesa Verde Middle School, director of secondary education at the district level and assistant superintendent of personnel service.

Before joining MUSD, Hays worked as a city planner for the cities of Hawthorne and Huntington Beach.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Cal State Northridge, a master’s degree in urban planning from UCLA, a master’s degree in educational administration from CSUN and a doctorate in educational leadership from UC Santa Barbara.
